The integrated path

My name is Despi. The heart of my work at The Wholesom Space is an integrated, collaborative journey intended to honor your wholeness - all of you. To be a facilitator on your journey to find your ground from which to step into the world from. All parts are welcome. By gently drawing on wisdom from several specialized modalities and contemplative wisdom traditions,  the work focuses on cultivating the deep self-awareness needed to navigate life's complexities.

This dedication to whole and conscious living started taking root in the early 2000's. Today, as a registered Counselling Psychologist with the HPCSA (Health Professions Council of South Africa), Yoga Facilitator, Mindfulness Facilitator, and Sound Therapist, I hold space for facilitating a deepening of your awareness and resilience.

Cultivating the Inner Anchor

My commitment to cultivating presence, is the bedrock of my practice, shaped by my personal practice and various trainings. I am a trained Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programme practitioner, a foundation deepened through international study with revered institutions, including the Oxford Mindfulness Centre and the Centre for Mindfulness and Research in Bangor (UK). I am also trained to  share these essential tools for navigating life through programmes for children and teens (Mindfulness School Project, UK), helping all ages find their inner compass for emotional wellbeing. 

Sound, Silence, and Harmonic Resonance

Recognizing that vibration speaks directly to the nervous system, my training as a Sound Therapist offers a unique entry point to integration. Under the mentorship of Nestor Kornblum and Michele Averard (Harmonic Sounds) and Jaya and Saraswati (Sound Ceremony), I integrate sound to create a therapeutic haven for deep rest. This specialty offers a non-verbal pathway back to coherence and the silent, inner landscape.

Mindful movement and Yoga

My foundation in mindful movement honors the body's deep intelligence. For Yoga, I completed my initial 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training under the guidance of Christine Withiel at Jivananda Centre for Wellbeing. I later deepened my studies with Dr Yogrishi Vishvekthu, Akhanda Yoga, in Rishikesh, India. My passion for Yin Yoga—the stillness that unlocks the deep memories held in the fascia—led me to specialize under the guidance of Sarah Powers (Insight Yoga) and Paul Grilley (Yin Yoga – The Functional Approach), recognized architects of the methodology.

Through this rich, integrated pathway, I offer you an evidence-informed invitation to return to your inner wisdom, transforming life’s complexity into conscious choice.
